As many of you have noticed when you visit our office, we have students that shadow the doctors, seeing how each case is presented, how each treatment is rendered. These students are from Orange - Ulster BOCES, and recently we received an email from the head of the program that organizes the clinical visits. "I would just like to take a moment to say thanks for helping to provide such wonderful, educational clinical experiences for the New Vision Medical students. The feedback I get from them has been overwhelmingly positive. By you and your patients allowing these future professionals the opportunity to shadow in all the various departments within Windsor Dental, you are affording them valuable experiences. Each and every one at Windsor Dental have been welcoming and encouraging to my students. You all demonstrate a high level of professionalism by setting a wonderful example. Doctors Costigan, Thomas and Bae, along with all of our hygienists, will be attending an all day Laser Treatment Seminar/Workshop on Friday 6/18/10 in New York City. There, they will learn how to use precision EZLase Laser Therapy for Periodontics (gentle removal of the diseased, infected and inflamed tissue within the perio pockets with no bleeding), learn about Waterlase MD Laser Treatment of Cold Sores and Canker Sores (can take away the pain immediately after the sore has started, which allows for faster healing), as well as tooth whitening (great for those with sensitive teeth). This exciting technology is already in use in our office by some of our doctors. With this certification, we can continue to expand our practice to better care for our patients.

We have recently completed our Soles for Souls campaign (our office was the drop off site). This community service project was brought to us by Jared and Ilana Hinson who collected the shoes from a large box in the reception area of our office. They were able to spread the word through school, religion classes and Girl Scouts that anyone with shoes in good condition that are no longer wanted, can deposit them at our office, and they will be given to those less fortunate. Needless to say the kids were so excited to learn that their project had collected over 700 pairs of shoes! The shoes were sent out through the Solid Rock Church, where missionaries visiting foreign countries will be giving away the shoes. Congratulations to Jared and Ilana on the success of your project, and thank you to all who so kindly donated.

Dr. Stern will be attending a two day course this Friday and Saturday where he will learn about, and be instructed on how to place All On Four Dental Implants. These implants are designed for patients who have been turned down for regular implants or even turned away by dentists who can't help them due to lack of bone to which a regular dental implant needs to attach. Some of the benefits of this procedure are: it is virtually painless; helps to prevent further bone loss; gives you teeth immediately (fixed denture); replaces your regular denture for life; minimal discomfort and healing time; easily maintained through proper oral hygiene; restores the ability to eat all types of food; creates a whole new smile in just one day.

Dr. Stern attends World Clinical Laser Institute
Welcome Back Dr. Stern! Dr. Stern spent the first week of March in San Diego at the World Clinical Laser Institute perfecting advanced laser techniques. Laser therapy is used on those patients in need of surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapy, as well as biopsys of oral lesions, and the treament of desensitizing of teeth. Lasers can also be used to enhance the teeth whitening process. With all of these procedures, it is safe, reduces patient chair time and eliminates post op discomfort.

Trust your smile to an Invisalign Preferred Provider
Like most medical needs, selecting the right doctor is a very important decision. You want to choose an orthodontist or dentist that you have a good rapport with, and can understand and provide the treatment outcome you’re looking for.
Invisalign Preferred Providers have achieved a level of clinical training and experience in treating patients with the Invisalign system. . In addition, some doctors have distinguished themselves with even higher experience and recognized as Premier and Elite Providers.
Windsor Dental Center would like to congratulate Dr. Kevin Boyle on his distinguished honor of becoming a Preferred Provider.

Dr. Stern and Dr. Drescher are currently at a BioLase Certification Class- designed for dentists who wish to incorporate lasers into their practice. The use of a laser will greatly reduce the trauma typically associated with surgical procedures. It minimizes bleeding, improves the healing process, and lessens discomfort. This effort is just another one of the ways that our doctors are continuing to provide the most current technology and advanced services to our patients.
12/1/09
To our valued patients:
As we head into the holiday season, we wanted to take the opportunity to tell you how much we value and appreciate you as a patient, and a member of our dental "family". We know you have many choices for oral health care and we are grateful you have chosen us.
As always, please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions, or if you would like to schedule an appointment.
Again, please accept our thanks for your continued support of our practice, and accept our very best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season.
Sincerely,
Dr. Steven Stern & the Windsor Dental Team

It is that time of year again- The time for giving!
This year Windsor Dental is working with Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls has a simple mission: To impact as many lives as possible with the gift of shoes.
Soles4Souls facilitates the donations of shoes, which are used to aid the hurting worldwide. Shoe companies, retailers, and individuals can donate footwear (both new and used). Soles4Souls is a 501(c)(3) recognized by the IRS, and donating parties are eligible for tax advantages.
The idea behind gifts of shoes is nothing new to the Soles4Souls team, as they coordinated relief efforts for the Asian Tsunami and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, netting over 1 Million pairs donated for these disasters. The team originally operated as www.katrinashoes.org with several churches partnering in the collection and distribution of footwear.
Please feel free to drop off your slightly used or new shoes at our dop box located in the entrace to our office or visit www.give shoes.org to how you can help in other ways.

Last week a couple of us from the office took a trip out to Connecticut to watch Dr. Drescher perform with his band The Fairfield Counts. He is the sax player all the way to the right.

Given the current condition of our economy it is sometimes easy to justify skipping your cleaning or deciding to disregard recommended dental treatment. Lost hours at work, extra expenses, or perhaps treatment you need that doesn't actually hurt yet, are all reasons you may use to justify avoiding the dentist. However, there is a strong, researched link between oral health and overall health and neglecting the former will inevitably cause a decline in the latter. Please take a few moments to check out this video about a woman who was hospitalized for days, all because of a tooth infection that could have been prevented with regular dental care. If you want to stay healthy, remember that oral health care is just as important as your regular health care.
Remember the saying: "Ignore your teeth and they'll go away."

Keep an eye out for us while you're on the web - soon we'll have a Facebook profile and eventually videos available on YouTube. Who knows, maybe we'll even get onto Twitter! Any ideas, comments, or suggestions can be emailed to windsordentalcenter@gmail.com.

They have reduced the price for the entire treatment, surgical and restorative, by $600. This savings is available for one day only, September 29th, 2009. This is just a quick FYI for patients thinking about dental implants as a treatment option.
